4 Miles

Yesterday wasn't quite so windy and despite the bit of wind, I was able to run 4 miles pretty successfully. I am looking forward to my 5k tomorrow. The Race for a Cure.

windy

Maggie, Juno and I walked a mile. It was windy and we were in short sleeves. That meant that we were hurrying along.

I did it

I went to Phoenix with the family for a long weekend. I took running clothes with the hope that I would get out. Friday Maggie and I walked. Friday night Maggie and I and my mom walked and then my mom and I walked.  Saturday morning did not happen. It came as a surprise to me that I did get out Sunday morning and run for about 3.5 miles. And then I got out for another 2 mile walk with my mom that night.

It was nice to get out with her and walk. It was something that we used to do fairly regularly. It made me realize that I need to get out at night with the kids and let them stay up a bit later so they can enjoy the evening air.

Wednesday

So yesterday was one of those days that was a little rougher. It was super windy and I decided to run the dog the temptation way. So I had to fight the dog who wanted to stop and smell the roses and the wind. I felt like football player working to get faster by having someone hold them back. It got better after about 1.5 miles so that I ended up running a little over 4.5 miles. It was a good run and definitely helped my miles but running did not happen this morning.

A new idea

So with the kids addiction to tv I thought I would figure out how to make it a reward so they can appreciate it a little better.

This morning we walked Juno for 40 minutes so that was the amount of tv time they got today.  They walked 2 miles. And then after dinner, Maggie and I took Juno for another walk and did over 1 mile. She is really turning into my walking partner. It didn't hurt that she had a ring pop. She was happily walking with blue lips, blue tongue and blue face surrounding her mouth. It definitely gave her the energy to go the distance! lol and then some.

So today was 3.34 miles.

Dinner was a happy meal, Harry had 3 helpings before he started to try and pull him bib off.

Whole wheat rigatoni, spinach, garlic, cottage cheese, herb cheese spread (laughing cow) and marinara sauce. On top was pinwheels of mozzarella, procuitto and basil.  I baked it for 45 minutes at 375 since I had sitting out for a little while. The kids enjoyed and you couldn't tell it was whole wheat pasta both cheeses on the inside were lowfat, not sure about the mozzarella. Oh and I cut up costco meatballs to mix in with it as well. Max enjoyed it so much he wants it for lunch tomorrow. And  like I said Harry ate his, mine and then another scoop.

Maggie

So I think I need to work on an every other day strategy with walks in between. Today I was just not feeling it for a run so I grabbed Maggie and decided that we would do a walk and work on training Juno since I would like to take him more places. So Maggie has been wanting to go farther but not necessarily further. We walked about a mile in a few blocks and then turned onto a busy street. And then back down another quiet street. All in all we walked 2.25 miles. I think that is pretty fantastic for an almost 4 yo. I am hoping to make her my walking partner on those days opposite the runs. Juno truly needs the walks where I can wield more control over his leash then when I am running.  I had thought Max and I would be getting out there together but that isn't what has happened. I have enjoyed the walks with Maggie.

hiking back pack

So the front carrier which can be a back carrier is kind of hard to get on my back so I decided to try the camping back pack today. It worked out okay but still hard to walk the dog, rangle the kids and carry the baby. It is definitely interesting to get out there. Did over a mile.
